Fire at Old Sarum: A Message from GoSkydive

18 Apr 2025

Last night, our community was deeply affected by a devastating fire that swept through our home at Old Sarum Airfield. The historic Grade 2 listed WW1 Hangar 3, which has stood as a proud landmark of British aviation history, caught fire during the evening hours of 17th April 2025. The fire subsequently spread to our neighboring Hangar 3 Café and key parts of our own operational buildings.

Our hearts are particularly heavy for our friends at Hangar 3 Café, who have lost their entire premises. They have been more than just neighbours – they’ve been an essential part of the GoSkydive experience, serving countless customers and staff over the years. We are committed to supporting them through this difficult time and will work tirelessly to help them return to operations as quickly as possible.

The fire has also impacted our own facilities, and while the damage is only partial, safety is and always will be our absolute priority. We have made the decision to cancel all skydiving activities this weekend (18th-21st April) to thoroughly assess the situation and ensure we can maintain the high standards of safety and customer experience that you expect from us.

Looking ahead, we anticipate resuming our operations in early May, subject to completing all necessary safety investigations and weather conditions permitting. UPDATE: We are on track to skydive again April 25th, weather conditions permitting. While this situation presents significant challenges, we’re already planning improvements to our facilities that will enhance your skydiving experience when we return. The vast majority of customer skydives will be unaffected.

The loss of Hangar 3 itself is particularly emotional for us. This magnificent structure has been our backdrop since GoSkydive’s inception, representing not just Old Sarum’s heritage but Britain’s proud aviation history.

We want to thank our incredible community for the overwhelming support we’ve already received. Your messages and offers of help remind us of why we love being part of this amazing aviation family. We will keep you updated on our progress and look forward to welcoming you back to an even better GoSkydive very experience soon.

For those with bookings affected by this closure, our customer service team will be in touch directly to arrange alternative dates. For customers with bookings in the near future, your skydive will go ahead unless otherwise communicated. We appreciate your understanding during this challenging time.
